Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Hopeful

I just got of a call with someone who used to be a financial advisor with Jones. She is now at Principal and referred me to another advisor with Principal, who also left Jones.

She said they got the heck out of there (EJ) and mentioned the culture is totally different (much better).

She also mentioned how much more successful they have been since leaving.

Maybe there is hope and a fresh start for us that have been laid off!

I start a new, fully remote role next week with a New York based firm with a 50% increase in pay. I will not be giving EJ any notice or participating in a handoff. I am leaving EJ with the same level of consideration I was shown.

I was ISP'd. Received severance. Found a job quickly. Received a large pay increase. Edward Jones served its purpose. It was a stepping stone in my career. I am done with them. I am educated and have valuable skills. You just have to find the right people in the right moment to value your education and skills. Penny does not value anything but yes people. When the time is right get out and move and watch EJ burn to the ground as Penny stands with the matches in her hand wondering how it all went wrong. Just a foot note on a personal side Penny is becoming more and more paranoid by the day. This is taking a toll on her and it is very amusing watching her from afar.

I was ISP’d. Found a new job. Big pay increase, three days per week in office, less chaos caused by unnecessary restructuring which in the end is going to show minimal savings at best. Penny definitely sla-ghtered the golden goose with this one. She out thought herself. Oh well, I’m out!

I'm still here but I have until june to get out. I love my team and department but the new 4x week commute with zero pay increase and a company that is now actively saying "we hate you, please quit before we have to ISP you." is disgusting. Especially after years and years of shoveling sh+t for them. This is how they repay us, so I'm done. My people that are already 3x week in office are at the end of their rope, and now GPs want to micro manage how many hours your butt is in a chair. What next? Nets outside the windows to keep us from jumping because "other companies do it"? Nothing we do now is our own idea, everything is a cheap knock off.

Im still here but I truly believe in greener pastures given the right timing, opportunity, and permission from within to look elsewhere.

I was forced to leave. If another company appreciates my experience and education, I'm signing on and forgetting about EJ (the culture).

They are letting many talented people go. It makes NO sense.

@OP yes! I left a while back and things are so much better. Better pay, much better WFH policy, much better benefits, way healthier culture. Better things are definitely out there!
