Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

Why do managers at BC always seem to be in conflict with each other?

I was am employee from VMware. After in BC, I find managers always fight with other manager.

They make every source code, KB and discuss meeting notes only available inside the group, ask engineer do not do any task comes from other manager, and even ask engineer do not help customer just because the team is busy on a new version release.

Today my manager ask me to fight with a team member, pushing them to do something.

How does this phenomenon occur?

Managers at VMware are useless and narcissistic. It doesn’t matter as the serfs get the work done in anycase until AI will replace them. The managers will eventually be replaced as well leaving Hock to rule his kingdom with full autonomy, but he will keep a few humans around as he enjoys to watch people suffer. It is his number 2 hobby after monitoring badge-in metrics.

OP, What you describe (in pretty poor English btw) sounds more like human and cultural dynamics of your geo and office more than of Broadcom, sorry to say. Dog eat dog world there? Aholes are in every company - doesn't mean it's the company culture though.

Maybe these are the people who were being promoted with reasons given similar to "being good with git" (true story Staff II).
While I was there people were promoted for politics, social circles, geographical points of origin. Unfortunately I didn't fall into any of these areas, and despite several years of long hours grinding legacy I would "inherit", and when permitted going above and beyond, I never made it past the serf level unfortunately.

Sorry, my years at VMware under that system really did take a toll on my mental health which I didn't realize until I was actually out. The system you describe sounds much better though lol
