Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

What happened to all the experienced staff?

Has anyone else noticed there are hardly any senior people left on the teams? Now most people have ten years of experience at most. I think the last round of layoffs and restructuring pushed a lot of the veteran employees out. Without them, there's no one left who knows why things are done a certain way.

@f9 They are but I dont want to say too much in here because it could narrow me down to those that know me. I dont have the Sunday night sick feeling I had in my stomach that I had at UHC. The grass is greener out there. Good luck.

@ek if you don't mind my asking, is the competitor still hiring?

They laid off the seasoned employees. I was at UHC 20 plus years I now work for a competitor and make more, work from home and most importantly I have my sanity back.

There are lots of other health insurers hiring. Work from home. Competitive or higher than United. I was there 20+ years. I loved it, loved the people and the mission. I am also very happy with Aetna. Both organizations celebrate wins and making healthcare better. I think the competition between employers is getting tougher

At UHG (mothership) and Optum an unprecedented number of senior staff took the buy outs last spring. Entire sales/acquisition teams just gone. Deals left unsigned for months. Its a big part of why UHC and Optum Health lost some rather major sources of revenue (everyone working the deals for years quit simultaneously for the buyouts).
