Be honest , how much say did you all have in the recent RIFs? Or did we really get selected by a program based on years worked and salary ? I say the managers had a say because my manager fired 3 black people. What are the odds ??

RIF protocol is well set ad with sd fix your review, set you at par with the to be riffed employees ( to save them). So they fix the algorithm and then show up to as if they don’t know … calling out from experience. I don’t argue with these jokers … vp is the biggest joke. And Kyle doesn’t know the sh-t 💩 making free money 💰 should be fired ASAP.
Any reason why RF engineers were the main target in GNT?
I've been trying to get my manager forever. He's white so you know he's racist. I just can't catch him at it.
Op- you got the golden ticket. 3 blacks. You need to find out who's responsible and go after them with everything you got.
AD here. Zero input. Up until that day I was expecting to be riffed. My SD got riffed. My team of 5, 3/5 got riffed. 2 of them remote. What left in our org and team are scraps and we are joining another team. VPs were making rif calls. Zero say. VPs are making the calls who stays and goes
@bb 👍
AD here. I ranked everyone back at mid year just like we do every 6 months, and that is what those above me based who would go on. They had a number they needed to meet, and those above me picked which groups got hit harder based on the work, its fit with what they think will be directional, and criticality. Simple as that.
AD here, my Sr. Dir, AVP and SVP were all fired, so I guess none of them had a say and neither did I. I’m not even sure who I’m going to report to come next week.
Omg!!! DEI hires were RIFd!!!
Sound the alarms! Alert the army!!
There's been been a disruption in the force!! It's like a thousand souls screaming.
I heard this one was based on the work being done and if it didn't align to Dan's mysterious new vision, the person or team assigned that work was cut. But also, general cuts around the business where things could be leaned out in the eyes of people not actually doing the work - band level and title really irrelevant
Band 5 Sr Dir here: I was informed from above who was going. I did not have a say. To the folks impacted at this point does it matter? It is terrible for them regardless of who made the call.
I'm fairy new to verizon, but not to telecom industry. I think someone from HR who was involved in that process, or someone from IT who had a role in the execution of that process would be the one to ask.
However, it is all water under the bridge. Whether you were intentionally targeted, were randomly picked, or caught a stray, the result is still the same. Having been through a similar situation before I suggest not to dwell on it and move on and realize most if not all companies treat you as a number on a spreadsheet.
I remember one time talking to a person that worked for a company that I was really interested in and said it's a paycheck. So treat jobs like that. They have no loyalty to you.
My former Director who was a minority passed over well deserved non-minority employees for promotion year after year. To say it doesn't happen in life is being naive.
Is it possible that layoff decisions factored in non meritorious aspects unconsciously, yes of course. It can go both ways as noted above.
Is it right in any case, whatever the circumstances, absolutely not. An individual's career progression should be based on merit.
Again someone trying to make it about race...give that cr-p a rest will ya? There is no place for racism at any Fortune 500 company. Anybody who every remotely utters anything that could be construed as racist is dealt with swiftly. Thats the reality. There arent a bunch of C Suite executives behind closed doors trying to figure out how to fire all the people of a specific race. Maybe take a break from the media you are choosing to consume cause its warping your sense of reality.
I don't see how there wasn't input from those that know what is going on. One group I am well familiar with that was hit really hard (10 people - about 25% ) - if you had to pick the folks you could most afford to lose- for the most part they made the right call. You could nitpick this person over that person but it definitely was not random. Also the ten that were let go were a real mixed bag of age/tenure/race/s-x/nationality etc
@a4 it's funny when people say PERIOD and then follow it with an exclamation point
100% my Senior Director, BI VGS, had a say. He fired us in the order he ranked us too.
@ac
"For the millionth time, managers have little to no say in the final decision. They rank and provide input."
My senior director doesn't even know who I am, and doesn't have a clue what I do.
You're telling us the AD has no say, but yet provides rank and input. If the senior director didn't ask for rank an input from the AD, I would say the AD has no say, BUT...when they provide rank and input.....THEY DO HAVE A SAY! Duh!
It was a mixture of high seniority, recently hired, low and high performance employees were let go. Our Asoc Director had no input and our Sr Director was also let go - rifted
Here we go again.....
For the millionth time, managers have little to no say in the final decision. They rank and provide input. The Sr Dir has the final say - not some secret program, not some external HR company, not some phantom consulting firm...
You can all claim that you heard this and that.... I've been part of the process for 20+ years in GTS, and know for a fact, it comes down to the SR Dir or ED/AVP....
My Sr. DIR had no say (and was pi---d). Handled by HR and VP only.
AD here, in the VGS org. Did not have a say on what happened to my team. I do believe my Sr. Dir made the call.
Get over it already. Not the first layoff.
Look at the list, there’s your answer
Managers had a say...PERIOD!
Don't be a gullible minion and believe the lies they are feeding you.
