RTO is attrition tactics, plain and simple

I find it almost comical that companies still wrap RTO in “collaboration and efficiency” fluff, when we all know it’s really about pushing people out cheaply. Add in micromanagement and a pathological need for total control, and it becomes truly demeaning and ridiculous. Utterly unnecessary for efficiency, performance, or teamwork. But then again, the substance has clearly never been the priority.

I wish they would just announce the attrition goal.

They won't, because there isn't one. Creating a revolving door of employees is quickly becoming the new normal. I'm sure there is a deck somewhere that explains how this will filter out low performers. In reality, high performers who don't want to deal with this will leave because they have options.

@cq my old team was highly functional and we busted our a$$ every day as a skeleton crew while being remote all over the nation. 10 of us got our positions outsourced and we had train indians to take our jobs. This was before E.R and was kept on down low from the rest of the ops division and firm. That old team now has 28 contractors and a laundry list of weekly errors and sc--w ups. Yet, we are told this has to be the way otherwise we will become like blockbuster video. Clowns are in control right now.

@b0 - Talk is cheap. You sound like a hypocrite. As an employee, all your accounts are with EJ. So, you are doing business with a company that offshores and preaching others not to.

@ad My job can't be don't offshore, but the person from Ops who updates cost basis in the system when someone dies? Their job can be done overseas, evidently. The turn around went from 24 hours to over 2 weeks, which causes a cascade effect of other people being unable to perform tasks on time, not to mention the various compliance issues it's causing. (That's just one use case out of hundreds)

But that's ok. Those Ops people were just lazy whiners, right? Probably wearing pajama pants when they work from home, am I right? Nevermind the fact that EJ had to hire a indians at 3:1 ratio to replace them. 6:1 on some teams.

@b0 Good for you, I applaud you, honestly. And as the saying goes, "History repeats itself." EDJ is already well on its way down the path of Citi. All we're waiting for now is for a major offshore data breach to happen. Could be in 2026 when they so eagerly activate the "offshoring" part of ER.

@ad I don’t do business with companies that offshore jobs. If enough people followed this you would have to bring jobs back. EJ clients are furious when I tell them their personal and financial information is in the hands of Indians.

Yep. It is hard to collaborate with total strangers in my communal corporate pod when Im slammed doing 3x the work I used to do because they outsourced the work to india and the indians keep effing up everything. Good strategy guys, morale should go through the roof after yet another botched coin toss by penny. (Yes, she failed at flipping a damn coin at big 12 game.)
