For those worried about line workers getting laid off there's no way. Lay offs almost certainly focus on project based employees on the administrative side. Project management, administrative management employees that were currently working on projects that were defunded after Trump cut back on a lot of DOE grants for grid modernization.
BGE has announced weeks before the holidays that it will lay off some of its employees.
The utility company did not say how many people will be affected, nor when the layoffs will take effect.
Officials say the layoffs stem from management’s decision to cut back or pause certain projects, resulting in reduced workloads — and a reduced workforce.
BGE says it remains committed to customers and employees during the layoffs, which the company is referring to as a “transition.”
In a statement, recently appointed CEO Tamla Olivier said in part, “This is a difficult moment, but I’m confident in our ability to come together and continue to deliver on our purpose.”
