Thread regarding PowerSchool layoffs

Layoffs, December 10th

Hi team,

As we’ve shared, PowerSchool is entering a new chapter focused on simplifying, streamlining, and strengthening how we work. We’ve been transparent about the need for change to drive sustained growth and unlock the value our customers expect.

As a result, we are moving forward with a restructuring of our organization to streamline our management model; one built for clarity, accountability, and speed. This will help us focus on what matters most: delivering for our customers, strengthening our operations, and setting PowerSchool up for long-term success.

Today, our PX and leadership teams are meeting with these impacted individuals. For some, today will be their last day at PowerSchool, while others are being asked to remain in their current roles for a transition period before departing. Furthermore, as part of these personnel changes intended to streamline our operations, we are moving some employees into new teams. This is the only company-wide workforce action planned based on our projected performance going forward.

I want all our employees to be aware that these actions are taking place now and that the notifications will be completed by close of business local time. After we complete the notification process, I will be hosting a global Town Hall at 8AM PT on December 11 to address open questions and share additional details of what’s changing and what’s ahead.

This is a comprehensive effort across all our company operations to eliminate redundancies and unnecessary costs. We looked at consolidating our technology stack, removing underutilized or unused applications, and simplified processes to reduce costs in other areas of the business.

While this yielded significant savings, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to downsize our workforce to eliminate duplicative work and realign our organizational structure with current priorities and performance. This decision was not made lightly. The individuals impacted have contributed to the success of PowerSchool and in general they have all performed well for the company. We wish them the best in the future.

We are supporting every impacted individual through their transition with as much clarity and care as possible. Employees that are separating from the organization will receive severance and additional compensation based on tenure and local regulations. They will also receive continued support from our PX team as well as outplacement services.

This is a difficult time for impacted employees, so we ask for understanding and kindness towards these colleagues. Please take time to support one another and reach out to your manager or the PX team if you have questions or need any support.

Thank you,
Antonio Pietri, CEO

April 2026 update:

In an effort to avoid paying out severance and retention bonuses, Antonio has made the decision to force individuals to commute to the new Plano, Texas office. Given that some employees live about 50 or so miles away, they are being told to commute Tuesdays thru Thursdays beginning the middle of May. Even though they have a departure date of end of June, those last 5 - 6 weeks are more than crucial for Antonio to stick it to employees he already fired. What a joke of a ceo and company. F U Antonio and F U PowerSchool!

Hey guys, just wanted to see how job hunting was going? Any companies that are currently hiring that are worth a damn?

@f37 Yes, the bonuses came in very low last week (3/31 was when they were paid out). If you didn't receive them yet, email the px team and let them know.

@aq5 I haven't been more excited about being 'let go' in a few months than ever. The more I attend these meetings about the 'changes' this company will undergo and the constant drivel corporate LIES masked as empathy that I hear from Antonio and his cronies, the happier I get that my suffering won't last much longer. It's quite clear that Powerschool will be sold within the next 2 years and bankrupt within the next 5 - 7 years.

“🔥 Top Performers Wanted | Account Executive – PowerSchool 🔥
📍 Territory: North Carolina / South Carolina

Hiring an Account Executive to to join my team, own and grow the NC / SC territory. This role is built for consultative sellers who want to win big and make a real impact in K-12 education.

This role is for you if you:
🏆 Consistently hit or exceed quota
🏆 Run your territory like a business
🏆 Sell value to Superintendents, CIOs, and district leadership
🏆 Thrive in long, complex, relationship-driven sales cycles
🏆 Want to be known as a trusted partner — not just a vendor

Why PowerSchool?
✔️ Market leader in K-12 EdTech
✔️ Mission-driven, student-first culture
✔️ Products districts rely on every day
✔️ Strong leadership and real career runway

If you’re a proven AE ready to dominate North Carolina & South Carolina — or you know someone who fits the profile — DM me or apply directly. Referrals welcome.”

They should also let “Top performers” know North Carolina was directly affected by their malware hack, and most of the state is moving away from all PowerSchool products. They are actively decommissioning most existing products. They should also let them know the South struggles with hitting quotas consistently month over month, and they just ignore it. But the sentiment around the South and PowerSchool is that it’s no good only in a few states who are tied into long term snake oil contacts and terms….

@9ws about that...we are getting prorated bonuses (which means it won't be the full 10% and after taxes, we'll be lucky to walk away with $1500).

We should've known when the data breach occurred the fallout was going to be immense. Hardeep lied, Nabeel lied, Antonio lied...it's just the pattern of BAD "leaders" and I really do wish the worst for them and their families. Heartless, calculating, cruel...all will be paid back tenfold.

@8kr well who are you that fired me before Christmas? I don’t need comprehension, if you are still in the company- good for you, I asked a question for people still in the company- considering the other posts- I assume you are in leadership doing this- and spying on those who are conversing on this- if you fired me- you are director level, which shows what side you are on. If they haven’t started hiring yet- well, good luck with the busy season starting in a few weeks for most of the company. For the rest of you still in- I really am sorry, I read the top response that said you are in mandatory meetings about how the company is going to “turn around” and be great without you but you have to sit through it. This is the time of year they start talking about EOY and bonuses- wonder if anyone is getting one this year?

Speaks volumes about this new leadership change. For the next several weeks, ALL employees must join these mandatory 'kickoff' meetings about the future of the company, the opening of offices, and how "bright" a future the company has. I'm so disappointed and disgusted that I'm being tortured to sit through hours of drivel from this new team about how Powerschool is going to see a resurgence in the market and emerge as the go-to product, but my future with the company is ending in a few months. Tone deaf, unprofessional, lame, weak, heavy-handed, and torturous are the only words I can describe Antonio and his leadership team. Boo this man!

Cant figure out how a 'data-driven' firm like Bain hires this clown as CEO. PS is officially a circus now. Might as well enjoy the fireworks while there is still a company left to burn.

@85z dunce? Really? Are you still with the company? With 20 years in programming and 15 with this company- thanks. I was more concerned with my team that got destroyed before Christmas. I only knew of India and Mexico- who’s in Uruguay? I don’t know any teams outside of India and did not know if they started training users in India or Mexico yet since the countdown of anyone who stayed is about 5-10 months out.

"...the sales leadership team. Uhhhh...sorry, the leadership team...
uhhhh....
uhhhh....we just want to have a formal kickoff for the company"

Literally a direct quote from a not so brilliant CEO. Bain has hired quite the gem in Antonio.

Yes, more offices in Mexico, more offices in Uruguay, and Texas and don't forget to keep shuttering Folsom!

Joke of a CEO. What a striker! lol

@85v Read the room, dunce. If you don't live in Mexico, Uruguay or India, you're not getting hired at Powerschool. They only want Mexicans or indians working under their new mexican CEO, Antonio Pietri.

Anyone inside the company have any ideas as to what is happening? Have they started posting jobs? Are they hiring? With all of the Amazon, Microsoft and others that have fired this week- are they picking those people up?

Jobs being offshored to Mexico and India- however there is no hiring right now and I think they are doing that to the last of them (from a friend still in) so that they don’t hit metrics so they don’t have to pay the exit compensation. Bain is a sh---y company for doing this. New CEO is stupidity for this but he’s not fully to blame- and Hardeep had to have known what was coming- NC left the company in SiS and they are leaving in other places too. Not sure about LA but let’s assume they don’t know yet. Not many staying to see the end so not sure what they are going to do- my entire team was dissolved- I don’t know how many stateside SiS teams are left- I was told just enterprise- but I don’t know how many others are going to stick it out. I know a few on other enterprise teams that got cut too so it’s a mad house. We still can’t figure out how some support agents are staying and others aren’t.

@4pf the leftover employees or even those whom were laid off should TELL the customer base that powerschool support will be handled 100% by Mexico, India, and people in South America with 0 knowledge of American politics or culture. This company is a real slap in the face to the American school system. Poor leadership + betrayal of America = BANKRUPTCY very soon

It’s pretty cr-ppy to be recognized for outstanding customer service and be told a week later you’re being played off… that’s cr-p! And right at the holiday at that! I have had so many customers say I’m so glad you are stateside. Sad you let your best employees go and keep the lazy ones who want you to do their job for them. I feel bad for the customers having to deal with the aggravation of not being about to understand the so called technical engineers they cannot understand… karma comes when you least suspect it may a thousand fleas infest your c***.

@2rh I'm sorry to hear you weren't able to make it in this round. While, I am being laid off in the summer of next year, I'm still very concerned for the future of this dept and the company. You don't work at a place for 5+ years and not development a personal interest in the direction it's going. I hope you find peace and a new job/interest immediately.

I have to say, this holiday was so disheartening. I know that my future will be better, but the way I was treated for so many years while being a high performer, only to be lopped off a week before Christmas felt cruel. Seeing those in my department left is a big head scratcher. Lots of yes people. They will eventually eat one another bc that’s the culture. Sad, given the industry.
