Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

I’m the rare breed that would actually welcome RTO

Mostly because of special circumstances, which I know the vast majority don’t enjoy. I get that it would be a blow to most people. In my case, I’m close enough to the base that commuting isn’t an issue. One perk of coming back to the d-mb office? I fully intend to never, absolutely never, be available outside office hours. People forget WFH flexibility cuts both ways. That is, of course, assuming my job isn’t merrily eliminated before I even get to enjoy the fresh air and tranquil office environment.

I honestly feel bad for the parents of young children. Sitting in an office while they grow up day by day. Sure some of us experienced that in the past, but times were different then as they are now. Im sure we're going to lose a few of them too.

@z0 Absolutely. When working remote, the lines of when work starts and stops is blurred. You get online early, do stuff late. But RTO means work starts when you walk in that door and ends when you leave. Its going to be an adjustment for both sides, and especially painful for the company and management when they cant reach some of us after we leave for the day.

The open office design is horrible for any type of call, zoom, cell, whatever. There are some spaces for having these calls, but those are going to be occupied often and unavailable. I miss the days of padded wall cubicles where you could have some basic low level conversations without disturbing a lot of people.

I will definitely be having more water cooler talks, coffee breaks, time away from my desk, and late to meetings.

I will definitely not be taking calls while in the bathroom, not be available while commuting, not available during my personal time, and not working more hours than required.

All the boot lickers on here. Pathetic.
“There was an office before just go!”
Yeah and we used candles to get light and now we have electricity! Just go back to candle lighting stupid!
We launched Paramount + and Pluto wfh, remote workers aren’t slackers. Maybe you are when you’re home and you need your little boss to tell you what to do.

What I don't understand from all the RTO people is that the office has always been there for you. Just go! Be in an office if that's what gives your life meaning. Just don't drag the rest of us into that sh-t.
