Hearing chatter that Dell’s new cost-cutting strategy is quietly targeting s-xagenarians.
For the board monitors - A s-xagenarian is just someone in their 60s. That’s the whole mystery.

@q4 nope. They were offering a package for 20 years or over 55 of a years salary and 2 years of benefits. At Dell it’s a kick in your a$$ out the door.
They should start with the board. It's the 60 year old that help start this company. I think MD has forgotten that. Now we see 25 year old "Account Executives" telling older CIO's how to run their IT operations. NGSA is a joke and only makes Dell look WEAK. For those of you that have been at DT for a long time know exactly what I'm talking about. Yes I'm pi---d for those that are being let go and have spent so much time and the bulk of their careers helping DELL COMPUTER CORPORATION be the company it is today.
@j2 EMC was trying to kick everyone above 55 out of the company. How disgraceful!
If you're valuable, age doesn't matter. What does matter is if you are paid a lot for doing the same thing you did 20 years ago at the same level. More pay, provide more value, put in more effort, be more valuable than yesterday and you don't have to worry about any -isms
Even with Trump nuking DEI programs, age discrimination law did not disappear. DEI and the legal protection for age are two totally different universes.
EMC offered decent early retirement for 55+ ten years ago. Perhaps Dell can do the same.
You might want to revisit the arbitration clause you agreed to back in 2018, it covers more than you think. Your best avenue at this point is the whistleblower channels. That’s where this kind of thing actually gets traction.
@a1 maybe if you had talent you could get a job. I know it’s hard to put your phone down and think for yourself. Oh I know. Why don’t you have your mom and dad do the interview for you. I’m sure they’re dying to get you out of their basement.
The issue is that the current administration dismantled the DEI department, and now cases just sit untouched in a filing cabinet.
What is needed is someone who can afford to NOT take the package, whether full or PIP-Lite, to sue them for age discrimination. Of course, Dell would settle out of court, bacause there's no way they want their datashowing the percentage of older and white workers being let go, to ever show up in a court case. But if you want or need the money, you have to sign the paper, including non-disclosure about no public bad-mouthing Dell.
@a1 I can't wait till you're 60 and get pushed out, with no job prospects. You deserve it!
M project is the key here. Company won't function in the current state without the old timers and their knowledge.
Sounds like rough times ahead for MD, seeing as he turned 60 this year. Good luck, Michael!
Sounds perverted
@ab You so not make sense
@cv you will find out soon enought
@bt When you got laid off, do you really need to go to the layoff.com to watch Dell layoff and post comments ?
“When I was 60 they let me go”
@a1 You appear to be insecure. Perhaps if you were good at your job you would have more confidence. Turn it up a notch son.
@cd I am not 60 yet, but getting a package then doesn't sound too bad
Most older people I work with would love a package to retire a bit early. I know this because they openly say it!
If you’re over 60, Dell’s not offering severance anymore. It’s PIP-to-Package Lite™ 2.0 same panic, a quarter of the payout.
I was 60 when they let me go. This tactic has been in play for awhile....nothing new to see here.
@a1 you are a mo--n
I think those people who have over 1.5M in their retirement accounts should be let go and make room for younger people.
I don't get it. Boomers and Dell actually makes sense.
I heard they are targeting employees who are Taurus this month and Pieces next month.
I’m 62. Offer me a package and see how fast I leave the building.
60 is the new 40 these days. I am 63 and I feel young and full of energy!
@a1 just because they are 60 doesn’t mean they should retire. Age should have nothing to do with it.
You mean boomers who should probably retire to let young people have a job are being nudged out? Oh the humanity.
