Why isn't the tech space allowed to join the OPEIU chapter?

Hourly staff is represented by the union, but union membership is not required. Many do not join the union even while they’re eligible.

Would it matter? All the help desk, or at least the majority were union. They all got let go and replaced with Infosys mo--ns.

The only ones safe are the true higher ups. VPs and below are all expendable.

Northwestern Mutual considers full-time salaried employees to be "management" and as such would need to form their own union. Hourly employees are non-management and have been unionized with OPEIU for years. Theoretically, full-time employees could unionize with the appropriate steps.

This is a common union-busting technique and Amazon does it similarly.
