Don't bother working for this company of you don't want to see the executive council be the only ones who get money. Also you will have no say in any company policy. If you speak up with a good idea to improve processes or morale you will be retaliated against

@149 Reality check: No, employees will not be replaced by AI and cannot perform in a role faster and better. AI performs TASKS not roles and not with 100% accuracy. Cost is a huge constraint - water and energy needs have already constrained its use and will continue to do so. Any layoffs that companies are pointing to AI (e.g., Amzn) are due to the huge investment they made in data centers for which they won't see an ROI. The layoffs are expense-cutting, not efficiency due to AI. AI will only replace tasks that are highly repetitive, rules based and has both a high tolerance for error and minimal liability. Yes, it can produce templates and forms, create a decent power point, write code, look up information. But it cannot do any function that requires judgment, any relationship-based work. If AI actually DID replace employees what would happen? No consumer demand meaning no revenue which = a collapse of shareholder value. What will most likely happen is further wage suppression w/ fewer employees and higher workloads unless or until such time we have an administration that gives a sh$t about protecting labor vs. extracting from labor. The economy is strong with a strong middle class - not a handful of billionaires with a middle school mindset and the rest of America that can't afford a gallon of milk or an X-ray.
Do you really think AI will take off at this company???? The place is stuck in 1980 at best!
Spot on post! They want clock punchers who are complacent!
We aren't being replaced by AI at least not yet. We are being replaced by people in India who are graded on how many cases they can get through in a day. They are done with errors and cause angry clients which in turn creates more work for onshore people. They never have to deal with the clients. We also are being replaced by H1B Visa holders because the executive council can pay them less even though we have skilled workers here looking for jobs. The EC doesn't care about any of us only their bonuses
Yeah! And don’t waste your time whining about whining on the Internet!
Oops.
OP was offering solid advice about this company. Our CTO and CIO can’t spell AI. So that isn’t a problem.
What is? Employees who struggled to make an ill conceived merger successful. And who did it during COVID while working from home. Then told, well, here’s the door unless you stay and get a meager bonus and, by the way, come into overcrowded offices because reasons.
Trades are fine. Side gigs are fine. But let’s admit that the premise of the merger and corporate culture changed once they got what they wanted. Not much different than the boy and girl at senior prom.
Learn a trade instead of whining. Reality check - in another year or two you will be replaced by A.I. which already can do your job better and faster. Cost is minimal, it doesn't require benefits, it doesn't take sick days, it doesn't need to leave work early to go to its kid's school play, and it certainly doesn't waste time complaining on the internet.
