Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

No communication after layoff

For the corporate people, has anyone else not received any communication from their manager/hr after the day they were laid off? I feel like HR should have hosted a Q&A or something. I am still doing tasks but it’s mostly crickets from upper management. I am still charging time to the project as I have not been told otherwise. I have also not been told to handover to others what I have been working on.

@jr Well, as it says in the information given and now in a banner at the top of the page when you open the portal, you cannot sign until 15 days before your final day.

So it should show up as signable for you tomorrow.

@jd You should already have that information in the severance portal.

We cant tell you when yours will end since we dont know the specifics of your package, such as how long you were at Verizon.

It appears to be a minimum of 4 weeks, but that may not be the case.

I asked HR about the signing the severance package and what date will my medical benefit ends, the HR said I will be getting a package 15 days prior to my last payroll date, which is 12/20 for me. Has anyone else inquired about ?

For the first week NOTHING. Everything cancelled. No reach-outs, anything. Last week a 1-1 which I recorded (LOL). Pretty interesting and AD said they didn't know until the night before who was impacted. Not sure if I believe that. Anyway ... it is all very weird.

I was only asked to clean-up a few things which amazed me. Before the RIFF everything was urgent! Must be done. My how the truth comes out ... or ... priorities change ... or the guilt is working in my favor.

Not a single peep. The AskHR I submitted a week ago was assigned but received NO reply. Many questions that only HR can answer but they aren't here to help us, HR only protects the company. If we mess up on anything in the severance portal it works to the company's benefit.

I was contacted once, told to use transition time project code and not to charge any projects. So i assume i dont have to do anything..other then that - nothing...

I havent heard anything, either. And my access to some things was removed immediately, the day of layoffs, so I can't even try to work for real.

Oh well! Still gonna cash their checks until I have a new job or severance hits. Not my fault they made me unable to work.

So far a very sloppy and unprofessional transition...I received a call from an HR consultant rep who identified themselves as "people experience partner" who couldn't answer some basic questions on this severance and seemed clueless...I'm so disgusted...

@ab I was told to us personal time or vacation if I am not working on anything because charging to the project would be a violation of the Verizon Credo

Sam Hands is too busy doing origami with her post it notes. I am sure she will get to it eventually.

you should focus on doing the bare MIN until your last day

Considering my management team including DM had no idea I was impacted for days until I made a smart comment then was interrogated....not surprised at lack of any communication.

I think you should focus on handing over and transitioning your projects to the survivors.

They ain’t said cr-p so I just kept sending emails and assuming who is getting what for handoff. Documenting along the way. No matter how much I scream I’m the only one with access , it’s ignored. For the love of god I get you fired me but could you give me a small amount of your time to make sure we don’t have an outage when I’m gone. Ffs I have RSUs to cash in
