Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Accept a worse offer or wait?

Those of us who are still here are mostly desperate employees who can't find anything better. I sent a bunch of applications, but haven't gotten any good offers yet.
I'm afraid of losing my job and the uncertainty of getting next one, so I'm thinking more and more about accepting a slightly worse offer just to finally get out of here.

Citrix salary is pretty good in south Florida , I’ll just take the new job and continue working remote for CSG until I cannot

Highlight your most current skills in your CV, and when interviewing be prepared to answer questions about how you're an eager and fast learner (to counter any concerns about being experienced with CSG's flawed legacy software products). You can overcome any negative perceptions of being associated with older technology if you're prepared.

"According to an analysis of laid-off workers conducted by Revelio Labs, a workforce-data provider, 72% have found new jobs within three months. Even more surprising, a little over half of them have landed roles that actually pay more than what they were earning in the jobs they lost." - quote from the news story 'The Hidden Upside of Tech Layoffs'

So, stay positive. Best of luck to you in your job search!

My thoughts: Take a moment to pat yourself on the back for choosing to leave and find an employer with a future that doesn't include mistreating employees and customers.

Kudos to you. You deserve better, and the New Year will likely bring more job alternatives. Best of luck to you in your search!

There are too many variables that only you know. Salary, WFH or not, distance, culture, technology, security, bonus, is this like a hard to get position, opportunities in the new job, etc.

Taking a paycut of like $10k but gaining something else in return may be good for you.

Overall, there is no need to panic and take bad job offer when you still are getting a paycheck. Remember, once you get into the new job, it could be 2-3 years for a promotion.

I would keep looking until you find something you consider a better job. If you get layoff and depending on how much you get for a package, then you can lower expectations.

It is tough when you're used to living a certain lifestyle with the money you are making and now it feels like time is running out. Those who saw the writing on the wall earlier were able to leave and take their time weighing their options, having competing salary offers. There still are good paying jobs out there, in fact I found one that pays better than the Citrix position, which I am taking. However, if you are extremely worried about your future with the company, which I'm sure most of us are, it might be beneficial to take a guaranteed position, with a slight hit on pay, and continue looking while at the new gig.

I suggest contacting recruiters, getting your resume out there as much as possible, and spend time applying to as many positions as you can find, after your working hours. You will be surprised at the number of emails and opportunities that start flowing to you. The jobs are out there, and the pay can vary wildly, but if you keep at it, you will find something with good pay. Just like anything, the job market is a numbers game. The more exposure you can get, the more offers you will have.
