Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Employed until Dec-feb but what are the requirements?

I’m employed until December 20th. Are we required to work, meet with our boss, be available? I’ve already scheduled a vacation for next week.

I had access to sensitive systems and my access was stripped the day I was told I was impacted. My supervisor also lost his job and access.

I am not expected to do anything.

@bs If you weren't using your personal days before Thanksgiving annually you were uninformed of what happens annually at VZ and what you are entitled to as an employee when separating. Balancing PTO accruals and personal days was an art.

@bz @br there is no need for anyone laid off to work on VZ except maybe to transition outstanding emails. My folks were told let’s catchup in Dec. Focus on yourself.

@br that is a good boss. My director told me that they are giving me two days to grieve but expect to come back to work on monday. She said the company is still paying me to work until Feb 20

What is the difference you all have been on a vacation every work day anyway. Who works full day as a Verizon employee ?

@a5 How about PERSONAL days. While I was working for GE, we had 5 PERSONAL days. The guys I worked with, who were NOT laid off when I was in the 80s, took them to play GOLF!

@b7 Our daughter, who was cut with 17 years with VZ, was told by her boss:" Your # 1 job is to find a new job". She is in, NJ so kept on until 2/2026.

Enjoy your vacation and then refresh resume and look for work on Verizon dime.

Read your letter in the package. Don't take vacation. Simplease do not go online and collect your money at the end. You are not required to login.
