More cuts coming to GM IT Staff System Engineers

From an early morning meeting today, looks like the IT Staff Engineers are on borrowed time. GM is looking to eliminate the position and pass their work duties on to other employees in an effort to save more money. Probably some d-mb idea to send more money to the California Innovation Center payroll.

Another great SLT decision.

I can’t wait until the SLT decides to eliminate the bathroom cleaners to save money.

I’m surprised none of them got axed this month the way GM is handling projects.

Looks like GM is going to wait until beginning first quarter next year.

Poor saps are going to be cut during their so called “review”.

Arden is going to have her minions have the manager read from a script, and throw in the common BS terms “Reorganization”, “Cost Reductions”, and “Streamlining Current Processes” before the IT Staff Engineers get the axe.

I doubt any of them will be protected as the cuts will be across the board.

Anything to fund the salaries of the so called “New/” innovation center developers out west.

That will just mean more cars on GM’s assembly line will roll of with 3 tires…..😂

They are probably going to get cut. Like Ford and Stellantis, GM is taking a hit on their EV investment. Plus, their magical, highly blessed California Innovation center requires more human sacrifices from their existing operations in order to pay for those $250 k software dev salaries.

Yeah, our stock is up, but it’s from the blood money of headcount reduction and eliminating departments and dumping the work on teams already passed their stress thresholds.

Randy travelled from company to company, bringing along hundreds of Friends of Randy who always got cushy positions but added nothing.

They all covered for each other, though.

Offshoring is still on the table, but outsourcing never worked. Back when most of our software development was outsourced to other companies, if we asked for little changes like making a button on a web site red instead of blue, they'd tell us that was a requirement change not in the contract and would take 6 months and cost a million dollars.

Randy Mott bringing development in house was probably the only good thing he did.

I’m surprised GM hasn’t fully turned back to fully outsourcing.

That will be the new announcement in feb 2026: IT jobs will be outsourced back to India.

They want to give the work to cheapee people, whether that's inexperienced people fresh out of college, or people from or in cheaper countries.
