Learn a Trade

After all this, I’m seriously considering going into one of the trades. Lots of work available if you’re reliable and show up ready to work

My husband & 3 of our kids are skilled tradesmen. I have my masters degree. Guess who can find a new job in less than a week & makes double the amount I do? I will never push my kids into college if they want to move into a trade. They are the smart ones.

@aj that’s work left to the young-bloods who think they’re indestructible and impervious to death, and work for peanuts.

@aj I don’t climb towers, just telephone poles and only go up about 24ft max

@ag Congrats. Nice work. Are you required to be a certified tower climber? What is your role when an AIR antenna has to be replaced?

All of you that are acting like the trades is a beneath you or a downgrade… you obviously don’t have the slightest clue. Most people in the trades make at least $100,000/year. He-l, most of us network techs here at Verizon make over $100,000. My YTD on my paystub from this week says $112,096 and there’s still a full month to go. People just don’t want to do the work or get their hands dirty anymore. There’s more to life than pushing forms, responding to emails/slacks and the 3-5 Webex team calls. Learn a trade. Be more than a robot

ACME Trade Company Supervisor: “Apprentice Person(They/Them), here is a starter set of tools until you purchase your own. See you at the construction site tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. sharp!”

Apprentice Person(They/Them): “Quick question, do I have to be physically on site, at the construction site? I have to take my kids to school at 7 a.m. Oh no, this safety vest makes me look fat!”

And you just give up while the H1B visas flow in? Do you want to be fixing the foreigners toilet after they moved here and to take your job? Stay in the fight and don’t give up. They would love nothing more than for normies to give up. The rich fancy people are sending their kids to college still. Foreign students will gladly taking your future-kids spot at a good college.

You give up and join a trade, you’ll just make it to where you kid doesn’t have a chance to compete with future prospects. Yes the trades will always be there but don’t give up.

Never too late to join the trades. They aren’t going anywhere and there is tons of work. That and you know ai won’t be replacing you anytime soon.
