My store was one of the stores affected. A Retailer is taking over. I joined Verizon not even 2 years ago. The new company is saying I can make a lot more money, but I doubt it. I wanna hear from retail not people who never worked retail Verizon. Corporate Verizon looks better on a resume than an authorized retailer. I joined the corporate store to stay in the company and move up. Former VZW sales reps, where did y’all go after selling for Verizon.

@bb that su-ks because no one is making over six figures in Verizon retail corporate, I worked for Cellular sales making $160,000-$180,000 a year as a rep so yeah…. AT&T, you can make a lot of money to Verizon is literally the worst company. They have the worst service the worst prices and they’re laying off everyone
@a5 I make $120+K as a rep, not a manager. When I worked indirect I barely made 50k. I'll never go back. I'll work at att before indirect and I hate att and tmo.
Cellular Sales pays well.
@a5 they are letting me keep my base pay. But I really wanted to move up, moving up in Víctor’s would be okay I guess. But it’s not a corporation. I specifically didn’t apply at retailers because I wanted a corporate job. I’ve done retailer for VZW before and I am a higher performer so maybe I can make more. But a retailer doesn’t seem as stable
@a3 LLMs It's not really "predictive text", it's more like the collective knowledge of thousands of people distilled down.
And it all makes intuitive sense. Retail margins are thin and the commission model has existed for decades. Unless you're one of those guys that can sell ice cubes to Eskimos, you're not going to do better. This is the perfect task for an LLM because all it does is pattern match, and this is a pattern that's existed for 50+ years.
The retailer is trying to appeal to peoples greed and ignorance by saying "you could make MORE money!. Maybe you can, but everyone thinks they're a top performer, but few are.
All things considered, it’s a softer landing than nothing at all. And it’s easier to find a new job while you still have one. Not ideal but count your blessings
@a2 people come here to get information from people with human experience and knowledge who are in a similar situation to them. Leave the predictive text bullsh-t at home.
Unless you're Slick-Rick and can up-sell people, odds are you'll make less money, not more. LLM Response:
When a corporate Verizon store is converted to an authorized retailer (Victra, TCC, GoWireless, Russell Cellular, etc.), several things are structurally true:
Pay:
Corporate Verizon retail comp ranges roughly $50k–$75k total depending on market, with strong benefits.
Authorized retailer comp ranges widely, typically $14–$18/hr base + commissions.
Authorized retailer commissions depend heavily on aggressive quotas, pushing insurance, accessories, Home Internet, etc.
Bottom line:
Authorized retailers often promise “you can make more,” but compensation variance is high and top performers may earn more, while average performers earn less compared to corporate.
My gut instinct is that the LLM is right. It's all about the up-sell. If your next career choice is in used car sales, this may be the job for you.
The indirects do not pay as well, that's a fact.
However, I have a lot of friends who were impacted today (I'm a former store manager) and the materials they're showing me from the indirect are not horrible. They're being offered matching vacation time and matched base pay, plus matched healthcare premiums through June. Plus they get their severance still. Honestly not a bad way to go. If I had gotten RIF'd today in my current role, I wouldn't have a job with the same base pay waiting for me.
