Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

What’s all this fuss about layoffs!!

I don’t understand this! Whats all this fuss about layoffs happening? There has been no such indication about layoffs. I’ve seen newly hired college grads in BH recently. They are already cutting costs by hiring them (affordable resource)instead of laying off experienced ones.
Its thanksgiving! People have families and don’t want to live in the state of constant fear.

Tldr: No layoffs hinted or happening in BH and let ppl live peacefully!

@ns having skills offers the confidence to crack other jobs out there than the benefits it brings to your current employer. That level of confidence is only obtained with actually acquiring skills, it’s hard to fake it.

@mg yet layoffs are still a roll of the dice if your idea of working in tech is a skill anyone can do..... unless your daddy likes to be called Mike Lyons!!

There’s no chance of bankruptcy. They have the infrastructure, worst possible scenario is acquisition.

Layoffs have already started stupid. Just because it doesn’t happen in your part of the world (Dept) doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

It’s a new CEO. He might have more pressure on driving sales up than lowering costs down. By cutting down some company fat won’t do anything to balance sheet. So lets maybe give this guy a chance and observe!

The fuss is just a consequence of the actions from the previous years. Folks are anticipating the worst and the timings are pretty much the same every year. It’s draining and causing stress to everyone. Even if you’re not the one being let go, seeing your team mates leaving Fiserv is heart braking. I hope our new CEO does a better job with this ‘culture’ to improve employee’s trust.

for as long as I've been working at first data / fiserv, there have ALWAYS been layoffs right around Thanksgiving.

perhaps Lyons is changing that, but you cannot blame people for making a "fuss" about layoffs when history shows they're justified.
