I'm RIFd, and I'm actually pretty happy about it. I've been here a long time and it was time. I'm grateful for the many years I've been employed. However, it isn't the same company it used to be. For those of you who are surprised and upset, my heart goes out to you. Thanks VZ for the years and the many connections I made.

27 years and I'm fine. The last year and half has been stressful and took a toll on my mental and physical health. I'm looking forward to finding a less stressful and more enjoyable job even with a big paycut for my last decade of working life. I'm grateful for what VZ has provided for me the last 3 decades but I'm relieved it's over.
Same here. 34 years starting with MCI through to Vz. I expected to be impacted & am fine with it. Just over a year earlier than my planned exit.
Almost 30 years in and it's over with a phone call that barely lasted a few minutes. Not even a mention of service years or acknowledgement of every one of those years being positive reviews.
And I'm at peace with it all. Verizon today is nothing like the Bell Atlantic that I started with. My mental state this holiday season will be the best it has been in years.
I feel the same way… 32 years and a simple phone call .. poof down the drain. But I am so very grateful and proud of the work I put in over those 32 years. I was treated very well and have saved enough for my retirement to begin now instead of a few years down the road as I planned, my heart goes out to those who have to go back out and look for a new job. I hope you find something quickly to your satisfaction. Remember to take time to breathe deeply. Best of luck to you.
