There is no backing up data. You can't save your data to a thumbdrive and basically they will only allow to email certain documents to yourself. You can check if you don't believe me.

@a7 why would anyone have non company data on their work device? Second question why wouldn’t they just use the device they are using to browse this website??

You will not lose access to your work laptop/computer right away (I have never seen that as you will have work to transition, forms to complete, etc.) but you should move personal information off of your devices by emailing them to yourself personal email. If this information has restricted information (like your SSN) security will block it from being sent (as it would even if you are not impacted).

Everyone has something personal; resumes, downloaded tax forms, kids school schedules, etc. saved somewhere and you will not be fired for having this or trying to get it to yourself. Do not remove or attempt to remove any Verizon or customer proprietary documentation as that is a Code of Conduct violation whether impacted or not.

Any data that is not "company data" on your device may be grounds for a disciplinary termination even after you have been RIFd. You will lose any severance benefits and will be responsible for paying back any severance pay issued.

Have seen it happen.
