It boils my blood that there are still stores out there overspending like they are running double digit increases over plan (which they are not) and the rest of us have to stay right on hours or even cut to help compensate for their irresponsible expense management. I don’t get it. Everyone is hurting. There are a lot of stores out there overspending by thousands of hours, but the rest of us get stiffed? Why are they not being held accountable? I think it’s unfair.

Yeah, I think this whole culture of helping stores get “visit ready” is beyond stupid and unproductive. I say let everyone see your hot mess of a store the way it is. Maybe these “super important” people visiting will learn something useful and learn how their decisions impact the stores. It can also show them how the store is actually run and it would maybe help weed out incompetent Store Managers who can’t develop talent. Just a thought…
Fairness you say? Hah!!! Nothing fair about working in retail and definitely not Macys. The store visits are nonsense and prepped for in advance. Let people do their job instead of micro managing. I’ve been in these stores for too long and the level of Management is definitely not what it used to be. Making people work in Fulfillment on Thanksgiving are you kidding? That desperate to make money? Bad communication is one of the diseases spreading throughout this company along with low morale
My store ran out of hours a long time ago why you ask "VISITS" DOG AND PONY SHOWS. Now that we need them they are not there because we used them to try and impress regional that stay for 2 hrs when it takes days to get ready for these chuckle heads. STAY IN FREAKING NEW YORK AND LET US DO OUR JOBS!!PLEASE!!
The stores getting the "extra" hours? Are the hours needed? Does your store need more hours? Maybe it should grab some too.
Are the stores with the extra hours looking better & doing better?
This is happening because the company has made policies with so many grey areas that these leaders don’t know which ones to hold firm to. It grinds my gears when we don’t follow company policies or best practices! They have rewarded people for inventing the wheel just because. The wheel may be less productive and contradicts a best practice but hey let’s promote the guy!
I don’t know why Macys always hires the worst and most incompetent of managers especially nowadays. We had good managers in the past and now they are a dime a dozen.
Yeah, EDPs are totally entitled and really useless. It’s rare these days to find one that has the talent to succeed in this company and actually do good for the stores that they are promoted to lead. And the sad part is that the “smartest” ones come up with the worst ideas and get constant adulation and praise because they suck up to and are liked by the right people and say the right things. It’s not always based on merit.
fairness ? macys? you smokin crack? the only way it goes your way is if your 22 years old and went thru macys bs manager training and next thing you know you are store manager.
