Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The brutal reality behind the cuts...

  • Verizon lost 7,000 postpaid phone subscribers last quarter
  • Added only 44,000 prepaid customers while AT&T added 400,000 and T-Mobile added 1 million
  • Stock has stagnated - up just 8% over 3 years while S&P 500 rose nearly 70%

I don’t get what happened. Our focus on pulse surveys, photo shoots, endless reorgs and volunteering has energized a whole company of best in class motivated performers to bring their whole selves to work. Tom Brady told us we’re the best in the business! Anyone saying otherwise is fake news.

we all know this will NOT increase revenue or the brand of verizon we have seen them burn the candle at both ends for a long time we kept advising them its a bad idea.... this is why shares are half of what they were 10 years ago. Treating talent as a waste item is why now if you call in for any help you will spend hours getting wrong info. We outsourced everything and have no control over how it is done.... You ever open a AYS ticket and get a correct resolution? Come on now

Saying the stock has stagnated is fair. Comparing it to the S&P doesn't make sense since the increase there is driven by a handful of companies and AI hype.

Speaking strictly as a customer, Verizon's culture is 100% anti-customer.

Twice a year price increases...declining value for what paid...endless prompts to attempt to reach live help...nasty customer service reps...inflexiblility to address customer issues...hidden fees & charges...terrible website...repeated requests for security passwords...the list goes on & on!

TRUTHFULLY, this is way beyond blaming VZ leadership. Some heads need to roll at every level to begin to root out a systemic anti-customer corporate wide culture!

That is the reality but now Dan says he needs to cut costs to expand promotions. Why not fire the leaders that got to this point.. for a series of greedy, short sighted decisions to win the quarter or take back Miami.. instead of listening to customers and trying to solve their problems. 1st to get 5G MMwave.. last in customer adds. Outsourcing to lower quality reps and incompetent AI isn't going to turn this one around.

They stand to lose another 45K (assuming an average of three lines per laid off employee) and fios.

Here is a question for you guys:

  • Is Verizon pivoting from C-Band investments to concentrate on 1900 and 2100 BANDS for 5GSA enablement?
