Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

How many of you will stay on VZ phone plan if you get RIFd?

I am definitely not staying with VZ if I get RIFd and losing my employee discount. VZ is looking at 15000 disconnects soon?

Overpriced and terrible customer service.

Fmr VZ network guy; left on own accord..

Don’t sleep on TMobile, their 600 MHz spectrum is no joke on RF penetration.

Ultimately delivering in user satisfaction in some scenarios. Your results may vary, I have dual SIM with TMo satellite beta along w/ 5G data.

@ac The funniest thing about dropping your VZ line after a RIF is that for months (and even years) later, you are going to get postcards in your mail begging you to come back. All of these go into the fireplace.

Nah, I'll use the severance to buyout my DPPs and my cable provider has been offering me two lines for free for a year, so I'll take them up on the deal.

@aa if you have enough years to ‘retire’ you get to keep a 25% discount for life. I am so tired of seeing what this company does to good people…..

It would be funny if T-mobile and ATT ran some kind of special promo for Verizon RIFd employees lol.

Nope. I don't even have Verizon service in my area, despite what the map says. If I get laid off, my wife and I are already planning to go to T-Mobile.

Am moving to xfinity whether my job is affected this go round or not. They have proven over and over again that I can’t rely on them as an employee. I need to get the $100 savings from switching to save in case I get fired next round.

@OP No, I couldn’t afford it. There are definitely cheaper options. $30/month unlimited everything? You can’t beat it. I am keeping my almost 10 lines connected while employed only. Otherwise I have no choice but to see out cheaper options.

Makes sense to stay with Verizon - every time the phone rings, your boss's stupid face will come to mind.

Move to T-Mobile. Ask them for a friends and family discount to save even more. They’ll be salivating at porting over all those Verizon lines. try to get as much free stuff as you can

I took all my business elsewhere as soon as the RTO mandate was announced. Oppositional relationships run both ways.

@OP I’ve already started researching. Looking at T-Mobile and ATT. Can get a T-Mobile family plan for $100 to $150 per month depending on speed and bells and whistles.

I’m going to T-mobile if it happens to me - why would I pay a company who causes me financial hardships? Especially since they are only laying off American workers and not those in India

Don’t cut your nose off to spite your face. If Verizon has the best coverage in your area, don’t spitefully cancel and put the family on something that doesn’t even work.

We mistakenly believe that if we lose a 50% discount, that our phone bill will double. If you are heavy on 5G Home Internet lines, those are discounted due to having an accompanying wireless plan, and cannot double dip on the 50% employee discount at the same time.

Further, device payments and taxes will not change after losing the discount, so that is another “fixed” portion of your wireless bill.

So no. Most bills will NOT double.

Already moved to T-Mo over the weekend (all 4 lines). Cheaper than VZ even with the 50% VZ employee discount. Uncarrier baby!!

I would not do business with ANY company who up-ends and devastates the lives and familes of thousands of employees while stuffing millions in thier own pockets. Business is business, but this seems beyond the pale of responsibiliity to the well-being of the community at large...NO COMPANY should be allowed to do that. Its ok to de-rail all these peoples lives and there is no accountability whatsoever? Its not right.

The employee discount will have you paying more than going rate at T-Moble or AT&T. Visible is also an alternative that will save you money over Verizon's premium without sacrificing quality of service.

I will probably stay on VZ, since my kid has a GizmoWatch he loves (VZ exclusive).

My co-worker took VSP last year and wanted to port to T-Mobile. She called customer service and got a nice retention credit, so stayed with VZ. So definitely at least ask.
