As a 20 yr employee who was let go last year, I empathize with what you all are feeling this week. But, it feels really good to be on the other side of VZ and moving on with life. I thought my world collapsed when I was let go last year, but I've realized multiple times it was the best thing that could have happened, especially seeing what life is like at VZ now. Sad to see our once great company imploding. Since 2015, it has been a slippery slope down hill. First a small slope, then bigger...then bigger...and now it feels like the slop has near hit bottom. Everyone said a certain leader would run this company into the ground...seems they were right when this was said back in 2018 at the first VSP. May the odds be in your favor...rooting for you Vteam.

You'd be surprised how little anyone really cares about what's going at Verizon.
Layoffs are pretty commonplace in Corporate America and have been for the last 40 years. In our parents/grandparents (depending on your age) working generation it was a total shock when IBM and AT&T first laid people off and ended the employment for life concept.
Frankly, I've been thru layoffs so many times I'm pretty well unfazed by it all.
@OP I couldn't agree more. 18 yrs. as well. VZW paid me well, promoted me, and relocated me to my dream location. I'm truly sorry to see the downward trend over the past years. Stratton shb CEO, not this clown who's now ruined 2 companies. There is life after VZW should you choose to leave or get asked to leave. There's only 2 people I can think of that get axed right away!
I can relate to this post. If you are on that list know that there is life after VZ and you will land on your feet and probably be happier in the end.
@OP - Good encouraging post.
I would not characterize Verizon as ever having necessarily been a great company, but certainly a good one.
@a4 Nope, I took advantage of all the tuition reimbursement Verizon offered and prepped myself well for the jump when my time came. No drive thru work for me!
Let’s be realistic - barely any eyes will be on VZ this week. Outside of the affected employees and their immediate family, no one cares about this.
I'd feel better about a RIF if this was the job market of a few years ago. But hearing people talk about a 6-12 month job search is scary.
Can you please give us info on how you were informed and how long you were given when you got let go ?
@OP Well said. People need to realize that there are things to work out there beyond VZ and start exploring other options. It will su-k for sometime but it will feel good eventually
