D … was just in a reorg and team was shaken up. Had a lot of team outsourced and I survived it (very high performer, maybe indispensable), had / have to manage India (awful). Had more budget cut “because just have India do it” … India hasn’t been able to do it. If India could, they would move my job to India, they just cannot figure out how. They’ve tried to hire more US employees around me and (Insight Global) contractors. Not working, leaders don’t understand the level of expertise it takes. Only relief was hiring small stateside firm that sourcing hates (not Infosys, Accenture or some cr-ppy greedy big company) and my VP/SD think the specialized firm is too expensive (they aren’t, less that contractors and big firms that don’t work). I’m probably just going to end up having to do a major budget fight to make sure my function at the company remains functional, I will probably get a disrespectful new boss instead of the disrespectful old one that at least I’ve already won some of these battles with. It’s like living in a loop.
I’m sure AI will get pushed on me soon, this time it will just mean Artificial Intelligence and maybe not All India. It won’t help, I don’t want to deal with the chaos it creates and it would be an unnecessary layer and I’m not willing to participate in theater pretending it’s creating efficiency. I’m highly technical, if AI could help me, I would have been the first person adopting it and implementing it into my workflow. Guess keeping my job is better than unemployment, but this needs to stop.
Soooooooo exhausted. Just want to do my job and get paid, maybe a promotion someday (not sure). I’m not old or close to retirement, that makes this even more discouraging. How many times does this cycle need to repeat. This is my 6th reorg. Haven’t been here decades, just one.
