Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Depressed , anxious , sleep deprived

Anyone else here feeling like this ? Just tell me already if I’m jobless. I got so much debt that the severance wouldn’t be enough. I’m SCARED. If I make it this round , once frontier deal is complete that just means more layoffs. A lot of Frontier and Verizon engineers would just overlap jobs so that means MORE CUTS

The really terrible part is that we know there will be more massive RIFs next year. Not sure my body can hold up to that stress for that long.

Delete all apps on your phone that are for purchasing useless cr-p to remove the temptation of buying…yes, remove the Amazon app and put your phone down. Get off social media and don’t try to keep up with the Joneses. If you’re making a car payment, can you sell it and get yourself something cheaper? Learn when your grocery store marks down items…talk to the manager in the meat department, for example. Do Christmas as experiences and time spent together, not wasting money on cr-p.

Never live beyond your means. Jobs that can be replaced by foreigners in a foreign country are occurring rapidly. Especially if you are not currently customer facing or using your hands in the field. Hear me now and believe me later

Omg. You need to start selling off things you don't need. Cancel subscriptions. Use open wifi if you have to.

If it’s going to happen it’s going to happen. Your feelings are useless right now. Plan for the worst, update your resume, and formulate a budget. You crying online and freaking out doesn’t do anything, and if you know severance can’t cover your debts now then it won’t cover it for the second round of layoffs . Use this as a wake up call..be an adult, you are not special everyone is going through this.

You’re not alone, I normally dread Mondays, but I can’t wait to get to work and see if our manager will have a meeting or say something!

@OP Try to get prepared. Resume, cover letter, start looking at taking courses.. essentially have a plan of action.

@OP Do what you can to minimize your debt (sell things, call creditors to have amount owed lowered, get a 2nd job, etc).

You’re not alone. So many of us are anxious right now.

Just remember to breathe and focus on what you can control. Update your résumé and start applying … that’s what I’m doing.
