Never be loyal to Dell or any employer. Make sure to always serve your own interests. Never stop looking for new opportunities and as soon as something good comes your way, be ready to move on. Loyalty is dead when it comes to employers. Make sure the same is true for you as well.

I’ve been at Dell so long, my onboarding packet came in a three-ring binder.
I’ve been at Dell so long, the carpet has changed colors more times than the org chart.
I’ve been at Dell so long, my first badge photo was taken by a disposable camera.
Loyalty is out the door when all you see is layoffs. People don't know what to do because layoffs are happening to some outstanding people. If it happens to them, why not me?
Lesson to young people is if you have a job, put away as much money as you can. Reconsider every life choice because these aren’t good times.
Speaking of Tell Dell, I still haven’t seen the results from this year.
Never be loyal to corporate companies. I'd say for smaller companies, loyalty actually DOES pay off because they don't have 100k+ employees. They actually value you and respect you. Dell on the other hand? The ONLY people who are safe from layoffs are C levels and to a large extent, Directors and above.
The sad part is that at one point in time, Dell was actually a solid company to work for. They were ahead of it's time in regards to benefits/PTO, hybrid working and other things. However, I'm not sure what happened but ever since 2020 they have done a 180 and for the worst and, it's not looking like it'll get any better.
I can't say I'd ever recomend anyone to work at Dell these days. I'm Austin based and an article from I think the Statesman came out a few months ago ranking Dell as a "top 5 places to work for" LOL.
I mean that was hilarious to me because the "tell dell" results were the complete OPPOSITE. Dell quite literally paid the biggest news outlet in Austin to say this bs.
100% agree. Back when some of our parents were working in the corporate world - my dad included - companies WERE loyal to those who stuck around. My dad was with Motorolla for 20 years and was laid off but his severance package was INSANE. I'm talking like 10 years worth of severance here. Not a few measly months lol.
Nowadays? We are all nothing more than a name on an excel spreadsheet. How long you've been there means nothing. What you contribute means nothing. You mean NOTHING to the company, basically - at least at companies like Dell or any corporate company, anyways.
I feel quite safe in my position for several reasons however, I'm constantly looking for new jobs and updating my resume just in case.
I was born to work for Dell. If you are not "all-in" at Dell then GTF out NOW.
love all the dell-lifers pining about the "good times."
Dell was always a mid grade company.
Agreed... but Dell WAS a great company to work for right up 5 years ago and I cannot put my finger on what changed. It could have been Rona and the gradual RTO but I doubt it. I am a 25 years plus veteran and remember the good times.
I get what you’re saying, but not many people will stay loyal to a company over their own interests. I’ve been with Dell for over 20 years, not because I’m loyal to Dell, but because they employ me and I’ve never had an opportunity that made me consider leaving. Unless you’ve had a chance to go somewhere else but chose to stay at Dell purely out of love for the company, then you’re living in cloud cuckoo land.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a big fan of Dell at the moment either, but the truth is I’ve used Dell for a salary just as much as it has used me for my work.
I've chose to stay at Dell over the years because it suited me.
I'd love to start somewhere new, but I'm older and up against kids willing to work for a fraction of what I currently get paid. I'm not pretending Dell owe me anything - I've had it good up until now.
I don't think anyone young aspires to work for dell. Most aim for FAANG or more clout carrying companies.
Dell is getting 3rd strings Jrs and college grads. And even they want to move on.
As a 500 plus year old veteran, I agree!
Agreed 100%.
At the end of the day it’s all about Wallstreet and profits.. executive leadership and their greed will win..
