While the RIF may be needed to cut cost and financially support or spend on new areas but the outcome of a quick decision like this usually does not work out from my experience. The employees did not get much time since the announcement was made. My concerns is they will be cutting people not having enough time to look at their scope of work. A poor judgement will be made. The leaders should have taken their time to do this exercise. That way we could have kept the right people or department to support our customers and the network. I just do not get what is the hurry for…

@a4 nobody should have empathy for large corporate employer's. They could care less about their workers, we're just a number and disposable at any time.
F' them
@bq they were. This was not a hurried process.
@a9 couldn't of said it better!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 All of these greedy SOBS will get their karma one day!
Why are you so sure that these cuts were not already in the works before Dan took over?
The hurry is new CEO with a two year contract with performance metrics with a reported $50M performance incentive package. You can assume it’s financial results based and fasted way to control incentives in the short term is layoffs…. Bring in new people from PayPal with no relationships and cut away. That’s the hurry
Some good people will go and some bad people will stay..and so it goes
@a5 Get a life! LOL
@a9, looks like you don't understand that that was a response to a specific thing, but you've taken it out of context, IMO.
Just target the wfh crowd
We'll be fine
@a4 empathy for our employer? Are you mentally ill? Who would have empathy for a Fortune 50 Corpration that makes BILLIONS in net profit, pays their horrible executives millions, and lays off large portion of the workforce (many not based on performance) right at the holidays? Anyone in their right mind has empathy for their coworkers that are about to be out of work, not this POS company we currently work for!
"judgment" OP.
You should have learnt to spell, as it's possible it may have been the deciding factor in what could have saved your job.
("learned" for you Yanks ;-)
"My concerns [sic] is they will be cutting people not having enough time to look at their scope of work. A poor judgement will be made." - OP
Really? Sounds more like your concern is keeping your cushy job looking falsely-indispensable rather than any real and genuine empathy for your employer?
