It's cheaper for them to force some of us out so they're doing everything in their power to get us to leave. I don't care what they do, I'm not leaving unless they give me severance. It would be crazy to walk away when we know more layoffs are just around the corner. But that's just my opinion.

RTO is a well-known tactic to force employees to make a choice: go back to office 4 days a week or leave.
For those who live far from office and whose job is not designated as "remote", it is a difficult choice: move back to city or daily commutes or find a new job.
SF is not the first Silicon Valley to use that tactic. It's been done by other technology peers in the past (e.g. HP, Yahoo in 2013 and even in early 2000s). It was called back to office at that time.
Take control of your own career, don't let SF dictate the timing.
Find a new job and leave.
The idea behind a layoff is that it has nothing to do with you, your position is simply being eliminated, they don't need you anymore. When fired for cause they need a paper trail to document you are a poor performer.
It's such BS how Salesforce is treating it's "Ohana". But MB still wants to talk about trust and Ohana as if the company isn't falling to bits.
I know of ppl that have been in a sales role for 3 months being told to take a 2 month severance pkg (PEP) or go on PIP for 30 days. There’s zero support for new hires. 3 months of On-boarding is a waste of time but you don’t have a choice. Some reps are told to create their own acct lists with zero support no matter how many times they’ve asked. They’re not given a proper resource to find those accts. Setup to fail. These layoff will continue for the next 3 years. Doesn’t matter if you’re a new hire or a top performer, you’re a target. It’s just a matter of time.
Anyone on a PIP or laid off now do not get health after the day you’re let go. Almost no severance if any.
Ppl that are about to go on PIP/PEP are lied to weeks before. Accused of things that didn’t happen or blamed for other ppls shortcomings.
Now it’s clear why there’s only one CEO, one left before the chaos began, the other went on vacation for 10 days and stuck his head in the sand pretending nothing is happening.
Just a thought…Maybe you should offer yourself up and ask for the package and save someone that likes their job?
What are they doing, PIPs? Are they treating this as a performance layoff?
