Thread regarding Salesforce.com Inc. layoffs

Sure path to destroying morale

Such poorly handled layoffs result in a terrible drop in morale among those who remain. Our higher ups don't seem to care about it at all? I feel sorry for all those who are losing their jobs, but also for those who remain in this company, which is only a shell of the company it used to be.

Not just morale, but hiring potential. When I joined in 2019 - having just come off of a layoff elsewhere - the Ohana koolaid was appealing and even more appealing was that Salesforce hadn't ever had a major layoff.

The brutal way SFDC has treated their 'Ohana' puts the lie to the culture and is a huge turnoff for potential future hires. Layoffs happen; they're a part of life. But you don't have to be a corporate ashhole about it. Plenty of companies are laying people off and still taking the time to have 1:1s with the impacted employees. The way SFDC (and the rest of tech) is handling these is just awful. Thank you, Elon Musk, for opening the 'fired by an email you may not even be able to access' Pandora's box.

Lesson learned-Hard work cannot save you. Some very hardworking team members were let go off. Not sure what the company wanted from them.
