Has anyone laid off in January received any information regrading COBRA? In my severance package it states they will pay for it for 8 months, however I have not received any information yet.

You should look at your severance package. Mine clearly states, and I got confirmation from HR, that CSG will pay for 8 months of my COBRA.
CSG dont pay nothing..... Cobra package is asking for a payment of 1500 USD monthly for COBRA coverage.... all they are giving is an option, but nothing out of their pocket
Two COBRA tips, from someone who went through this during the previous Citrix layoff...
- Citrix did not pay the COBRA premiums until the day they were due. So each month, my COBRA account kept saying I would lose coverage in a few days if I didn't send money, but then Citrix would always pay on the last day and the coverage was OK.
- Don't believe the hype. COBRA is NOT the same thing as an employer-covered health plan. You have a lot of leverage when you're part of a company health plan with thousands of employees, and the health insurance company has to keep them somewhat happy, so that we don't switch to a different health insurance company. With COBRA, you're on your own. The amount of bureaucratic runaround and paperwork was 10x with COBRA. Eventually, COBRA did pay my claims properly, but only after hours and hours on the phone, and arguing and complaining, and sending them the same information over-and-over. They clearly just hope we will give up because it's too much trouble.
Incorrect. As part of Citrix severance THEY pay for COBRA for some number of months. I believe the formula is number of weeks severance divided by 4 rounded up.
At least that is how my severance package is.
CSG doesn't pay for COBRA, you do.
I received my COBRA packet today. It seems to want payment now, does anyone know how it will be paid for my CSG?
I was told by HR that the Cobra information was mailed out today so it should end up in everyone's mailbox in a few days.
Have you looked on UltiPro? It should hopefully update when the letter is sent but as others have mentioned, I suppose it is not as immediate as payroll
I contacted them on Friday (2/3) and was told they are still processing the termination list, but expected packets to be mailed this week.
may be too late, squeeze last blood of Citrix, ensure you bank on their $, doing following:
a. go to doctor office immediately and get all the physical exam and etc. done and let Citrix pay.
b. same goes dentist and etc..
c. use long term prescription filling and get a 6 month supply of all medicine before the last day, tell your doctor about it so that he/she changes the prescription to long term.
d.sign up all free fringe benefits, LinkedIn, AWS, gym membership if free.
e. submit internet reimbursement..
etc.etc.
e. cut off anything you have to pay after the last date.
f. ensure you sign up cobra, regardless you need or not.
you guys/girls can add to this..
Typically, COBRA paperwork is sent after the termination date, but once elected, coverage begins the day after your termination date. So, if you have to go to the doctor in the interval before COBRA is effective, you'll have to pay out of pocket on the day of service. However, once COBRA coverage is active, you can submit those OoP expenses for reimbursement. If you have an HSA plan, covering OoP expenses while waiting for COBRA to be active is a bit easier.
Speaking from past experiences, COBRA is one of those things that is retroactive, so paperwork is often sent some time after your termination date and then benefits are paid once you sign up for it. That's a pain if you need to go to the doctor before you get your coverage re-instated, but you should be covered just fine when that happens.
