Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

just Fed up

I am tired of laying people off for people that are never worried about their jobs. Complete lack of personal skills at the top. They act entitled and better than everyone.

So ready to leave this place, it no longer feels like a home or family.

I think the problem with Netapp now is NOT the people who are WORKING. It is the Leadership team who is eating all the free money with nothing to offer and decides to lay off ICs for the situation they landed all in. For the decisions, they made that led to failures once, twice, and more. Hiring leaders from big companies like Microsoft got us nothing except for Netapp filling the pockets of those leaders with more money that could be used to hire more ICs. Netapp axed ICs instead of leaders this time - why are the leaders who made the wrong decisions not impacted? WHYYYY???
PATHETIC LEADERSHIP AT NETAPP

1st line Manager is a tough gig.... but you do try to protect your team and your people. So you do as stupid as it sounds, stay for your team. After a while you realize the 2nd lines and 3rd lines are just political players.... no accountability, no interest in customers or people, just checking their box for their next promotion... Many are just terrible at their jobs but they protect each other....
Layoffs tend to be heavier around a lousy leader as they setup the people around them to look bad so they look better. So totally understand the desire to leave after seeing your management chain poker away your best people. I had to cut a sales team once... great team but the spreadsheet said cut them.... so I did, next leadership meeting the VP said "wow I screwed up we let the wrong people go".... She sucked, and all she did was make sure someone else was staged to blame around her for every issue... It works...

The lack of objective metrics will drive all the quality out of a leadership team.

So ... um ... why are you still there? Netapp has been circling the drain for YEARS! If you're still there you're either (a) delusional, or (b) sucking the t-t.
