@1qhs Are you a manager? If none of what you listed matters, then why post here stating that? Have you noticed AT ALL that the execs and management have taken more of a defensive/reactive approach to the business? I think you need to read up on what certain government agencies like the STB can do when it comes to the railroads. If they only care about the millions they're raking in as you said, then why were the class 1 executives REQUIRED to be at the STB hearings? You really do need to remember that Fritz was elected to the CEO position. He can be removed at any time for business issues by the board. Keep in mind that none of these issues would've occurred had they stayed away from PSR. That point is purely argumentative to some, but the UP had record profits before the massive layoffs. Some people were actually proud to work for the UP, and the UP wasn't on the worst places to work list either.

He was not the smiling cheerleader that we are used to seeing during his rr yard and depot visits.

They did not show much concern about those thousands of hungry cows and chickens at Foster farms that need those grain trains delivered on time.
Chickens will eat each other if they are super hungry and not fed enough and on time .

I saw his arrogance and disbelief that customers would actually complain to the STB about no good customer service from the rr. He said they did not like those complaints going to STB. What is needed is competition for different business to use the rail system.
It needs to be an open network. Just like I can drive my truck anywhere in America on the public road system.

I dislike the way the company is ran, but to say the CEO has no power is ridiculous. Do you really think anything has changed since the STB hearings? The execs and board cares absolutely nothing about what anyone thinks about them or the company. The only thing they care about is the millions they are raking in each year. The employees are unhappy, the equipment including locomotives look like cr-p, and the customers are unhappy about their service. None of this matters to the millionaires making decisions on how the company is ran. These are facts.

He was ashamed and embarrassed. Lance thinks he has power. So when the STB and the Board gave a good yank on his leash it reminded him ,that despite his position, he has no real power. His position in the company gives him limited authority that he mistakes as power. Most weak men suffer this delusion. And it angers them greatly when someone makes them heel.
