She probably has a wrongful termination case.
This was unnecessarily cruel and stupid. People should not be laid off while on mental health leave, or pregnant, or with any other health issue. They could be laid off six months later, after their health issue is resolved.
Her drinking is probably a toast to the drinking culture at Google and other FAANGs. It's common for employees at these companies to drink while working. There's beer on tap available at these places.
Is she on leave because she has an alcohol problem perhaps? Companies aren’t wet nurse’s either
They probably targeted employees who have a disability or made too many health insurance claims.
Hopefully she didn't trade family life for the corporate family and has time to start one now that she knows which end of the stick the corporate family deals its more liable members.
Does she get to keep her laptop? I bet she got an M2 Macbook.
