My friend said he never wrote a line of code while working at Apple for years, even though he had a tough interview.
Apple suffering a good amount of attrition from burnout so probably doesn't need to layoff. I suspect even from my small sample size that engineers that are burned out are fairly likely to not get laid off due to the company that they work for actually growing their free cash flow.
So much for rest and vest.
Wait for the inevitable Apple layoffs in March timeframe and get back to me.
