Thread regarding Microsoft Corp. layoffs

Tech people can be so stupid.

Yes, I am a tech person, a Microsoftie but…….

The tech community as a whole are so wholeheartedly, with exuberance working just as hard as they can to contribute as much as they can to AI. External tech people from admins, to coders, programmers, pentesters etc… just can’t wait to contribute. So proud when they are acknowledged for their contribution. All the while working toward improving the very thing that will replace them in a few years.

As I programmer I'm fully agree with you, I was always against AI and I'm agree with Stephen Hawking when says artificial intelligence could end mankind. The AI only will benefit investors and business owners, most of the people in the world will be unemployed eventually, the economy will stop without consumers and that's all. As a last resort I'm very sure these rich man will take the AI and live in a exclusive islands with machines making all they need. Is good prepare us in advance for this scenario, save money, make investments anything that can support you without employment.

I worked with a programmer once who’s only job was to work his magic on information given to him. It took him a long time each day. This was the only function he was hired to do. So he wrote a program that did the work in 5 minutes. It was rock solid. After about a month he asked if he could do something else. When asked “why”, he explained that he wrote a program that did the work for him in record time. They got rid of him and continued to use his program as the no longer needed him.

As smart as this guy was, he was left wondering and confused as to what happened?
Very smart and driven in one area and d-mb as a bag of hammers in other areas.

This will be MS employees in 1-5 years. The current AI initiative is learning and improving exponentially. They will, as already mentioned, use it via chat bot for Azure and other levels of support. They’ll entice people to use it for free. Once vetted, it’ll replace employees under the guise of “What a wonderful opportunity for these people to go and do something else.”

Undoubtedly, MS will use the new and improved AI as a support chatbot to resolve issues, thus driving down the need to have so many support personnel. They won’t be gotten rid of altogether, that’ll never happen but a reduction in staff for support, oh yeah, I can see that. Running off 20-30% is viable. So make sure you guys do all you can to make AI better.
