Thread regarding Frontier Communications Corp. layoffs

FIBER VS COPPER

As many of you know, Frontier has recently stopped selling new Residential Copper DSL in CA, TX, FL & CT. WV and Rochester NY are the most recent additions of that same initiative. An interesting STORM ⛈️ is brewing in California. The Copper degenerates know what is coming now and are quickly regretting not jumping to Fiber. But you know those Lames are trying to figure out a way to jump on the Fiber side as “CROSS-TRAINED” and convince the Union/Company it’s a good idea. Problem is when you combine the two work groups together it pushes newly hired Fiber guys down further on the pole. NOT A FAIR LABOR PRACTICE.

Not all I’m sure, but every manager I’ve had has been useless and had to be taught what everything means as far as the OSP lingo. Any degree is all that matters.

Trying to tell the current one why this or that will or won’t work is like teaching my dog string theory.
How the GMs expect guys like this to run a tight ship while not knowing the basics is beyond me.
Older guys coming from the field used to be who got management jobs, but there is no incentive for them now.

The guy whining about lazy union employees sounds like one of the typical bosses that tries to set unrealistic expectations just so he can tell people they’re constantly failing. They’re probably abusing FMLA to escape the hellscape you’ve created as your work environment. That reflects poorly on you, and your employees know this. Sounds like you need to do a 180 so you have people working for you that don’t want to let you down.
My boss just wants tickets cleared, he’s ignorant when it comes to the actual job, but he’s not a whip cr--ker and knows sh*t happens. So I try my best to make sure he’s not getting yelled at because of anything I do. We’ve been through several bosses, trust me, if your people don’t want you there, they’re fully capable of either getting you fired, or making your life he-l. They have protection (in theory at least) and you have a bloated salary they’d love to see get smaller on their books.

“What complete BS. Seniority means Jack-S, it's what you do that matters. I'll take an enthusiastic new guy who gets stuff done any day over an old entitled dude who thinks they have a God given right to stuff just coz they'll hung around for years”

Wow this is the same stuff you posted on the company website almost verbatim Nick Jeffries.

I personally am not a fan of the union either. However, your concept leads me to believe you don’t think guys that have been at the company for years have a better grasp on the physical plant, it’s procedures for operation, it’s capabilities etc. as compared to a dude that’s been employed by you for a year or a contractor that just hopped over the border last week. And in fact YOU. It’s clear by how you run the company you think you can just put bodies in whatever position and they will perform. I’m assuming that’s how you got your job which is why you think that. Make no mistake. Most of your talent and knowledge running this infrastructure is in the upper seniority guys. It’s definitely NOT the management teams that barely understand their functions and think their entire job is done from monitoring a spreadsheet and sending emails to enquire others of the progress of tasks. Again, not even understanding what those tasks are.

You keep trying rebrand this place as a technology company when clearly it’s not and will never be with you managing or your management structure. There is no innovation, there is no forward thinking. You and your team throw random ideas out often funded by the fed just to see what works. Nothing so far has worked except for the blatant falsification of claiming homes passed by splitter adds. Most of which still have no new customers from last years adds. Yet more are being installed. The first sign of poor management of a company is trying to cut costs on the backs of the knowledge base. Your union proposals are insulting. Especially, considering even the top pay California will be getting doesn’t even match up to what they would be getting if they still worked for Verizon and not the dysfunctional, haphazardly run “company” it is now. You keep battling with your technical knowledge based employees. I guarantee you will lose. Especially, in California. You wonder why it’s hard to get employees with real experience at every level. Especially management. No one in their right mind would come work for a company where their knowledge in low to middle management is greater than most of their superiors. It’s also why technicians that could have and should have moved up or back to management haven’t. This companies sole promotion ideology is based on the Peter Principle. Just look at your engineering teams in California. You’d be better off just giving your techs an address. It’s my understanding that’s how they complete their work anyway because the “prints” they get from engineering make about as much sense as a 3rd grader trying to explain quantum physics.

I’m a supervisor in one of our call centers and I can tell you first hand that Union employees are lazy and unmotivated, plus they couldn’t sell water to a person dying from thirst. It is so frustrating. Half my team is on FMLA and I know for a fact that they are abusing it. The Union ki-led Frontier.

And ya'll wonder n complain about the company hiring vendors, it is so obvious to everyone here why they'll do this. Union needs to know that if they perform better, people will hire and maintain. If they don't then what would you'all do if you were the company?

If you are so anti-union, I'm sure there are plenty of non-union jobs out there where you can appreciate "enthusiastic new guys". Sounds like that's what you're into, after all.

What a cheap shot. Wouldn't expect any better from the entitled union communists who constantly only want to drag this company down. Hopefully a hot summer will finish many of you off. Hahaha

Seniority is a fair labor practice. Put your time in, work hard and someday you'll understand.
Still busting my a-s everyday for this place for this place after 30 years. I want Frontier to thrive. I am thankful to work here and value my job. Frontier has provided myself and my family with a good life. At the same time I am thankful for a union and collective bargaining power. Without this we would be making pennies while the execs take even more. On our backs! We built this place. I call it checks and balances.

Another great example of the Union not supporting modern working practices. This hurts the members, hurts the company. Protects the under-performers who otherwise should be the first to be weeded out. New fibre teams are awesome. Hard working, loyal and see a great future.
