Thread regarding Micron Technology Inc. layoffs

Leadership Intentionally making it difficult

I think leadership is intentionally making things difficult so employees quit voluntarily and they can hit their 10% headcount reduction. Its a smart move but it will cause a lot of unnecessary anxiety and also reputational damage. Also, I dont expect Micron to pay high severance packages. Worked in Micron enough to know leadership dont care too much about its employees. Its mostly all for show but no real value generated towards employee wellbeing.

Very toxic workplace in Longmont. Management and HR too scared to deal with abusive and toxic minority employee. Several managers are also very abusive and toxic. It seems to be part of the Micron culture. Almost the entire lab complained to management to deal with abusive behavior. Nothing done. Many good employees left. I left a few years ago. Best thing I ever did. If you ever find yourself in an abusive environment, leave immediately. You will recover and be much better off.

@ndy+1kSPzprv Good. Means they need you here, and you are an essential worker. But Be careful not to make any mistake or you will be in trouble.

I’ve noticed that they’ve been adding more work to my plate, overly critical of tiny mistakes, and micromanaging. It’s adding a lot of stress!

If more people leave it would mean less people will be layoff. Micron should drag this process longer and maybe we will hit the 10% via natural attrition

What a ridiculous charge. Management clearly cares about the employees - look how hard they pushed to make sure every single person got vaccinated!

Well yeah, openly saying they're hoping for attrition is probably among the worst things a CEO could do for morale. They want a poor work environment so people leave willingly and forego all the extra costs associated with a straight layoff.
