Salesforce is now facing the very real threat of activist shareholders overthrowing its board and forcing the sale of mega-acquisitions like Sla

It's a very real possibility that these investors could oust most, if not all, of Salesforce's board of directors in one go. And if that wasn't enough, some analysts believe that these activist firms could push Benioff to at least explore the possibility of divesting mega-acquisitions like Slack, MuleSoft, and Tableau. It could even result in Salesforce ending its remote-work policies and mandating at least some employees to come back into the office, analysts speculate.

  • Undoubtedly there are professional, hardworking people in SF, Slack, Tableau & MuleSoft
  • SF employees were generally quite happy & excited about acquiring & using the Slack product (with the caveat mentioned in the following point). But unfortunately for you, the Slack co-founders sold and exited. The rest of you have to deal with fitting in. If only I had a penny for each time I heard someone from Slack complain about SF culture, how Slack was better...
  • There's a litany of reasons why legacy SF employees will lay some blame on the Slack acquisition and the way the group continues operations (Paying $27B for $1b of recurring revenue, hiring expensive sales reps & RVPs for high velocity, low value sales deals, hiring friends and family for zero value-add roles like VP of Slack Professional Services, etc, ad infinitum).
  • The Engg team may be great, but what about the investment in Sales, Professional Services and Customer Success? Surely there were ways to overlay these into the existing functions.
  • This is an educated comment about rejecting the SF culture, but conveniently appropriating SF's prevalent high management overhead model (and for e.g. still being entitled to 1 Friday off a month just because you're still "Slack"). The music has stopped now.

I would like to echo that last comment.
There are very professional hard working people in SF, Mulesoft, Slack and Tableau.
The problems SF are facing are not because of these recent acquisitions.

I don't understand the need to call people lazy, or entitled. Why?

Some very uneducated remarks on this thread.
As someone who worked in Salesforce and Slack, the work culture in Slack is better and more productive. And in Slack, people really support each other.

For some unknown reason, one or two on this thread, without really understanding of Slack, are making unnecessary misjudged remarks without any real knowledge. And that strikes me as someone who a bit insecure or looking for scapegoats.
At at time when people should be supporting each other, why are always that small minority of people who seem to think it is ok to insult others on mass.

Slack is a deadweight - I don't see SF ever getting a return on that investment. At least Mulesoft makes sense from an Enterprise Architecture perspective. Slack appears to be full of lazy, entitled employees who will never understand enterprise sales.

Tableau never made a dent in the sales numbers. Probably a good idea to spin off as well.

Untangling Tableau is harder after forced marriage with Einstein Analytics. The other two is still possible.

Ugh. MuleSoft. Anyone left working there from the pre IPO days is a narcissist dinosaur cr-p human who needs to be shoved onto the street. Worst group of people ever, the remanning pre-ipo folks. They make that company cr-p.

slack came with a lazy culture though.. A lot of people there need to be shown the door if SF expects to make its money back

Slack and Tableau would be easy to extract and sell. MuleSoft (my former employer) would be practically impossible at this point. It's been integrated into Salesforce and wouldn't be a viable product on its own anymore.

I wish we were never acquired by Shitforce. The view from the tower was nice, but the novelty of that wore off after a month.

Slack and a number of others were bad investments. We paid too much for them and never got our return.
