Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Are more cuts inevitable?

Industry-wide push for job cuts makes me worried. Some think that Intel can't afford not to have another round.

“Some don’t think Intel can afford more layoffs”.

Who are you kidding? After the layoffs I am getting more done!

If you think we can do <25B in first half of 2023 and not have further cuts….you are delusional and part of the problem.

OP, yes there will be a lot more cuts. Yesterday after close of business it was announced that the Intel chairman of the board of directors is stepping down. This is 2 days before Q4 earnings are announced. This typically happens when a company has really bad news for the earnings call. In one year revenue will have dropped around 20%. I also doubt that there will good news of the forecast for 2023. If Intel cuts its head count by 50% from the 130K reported on the books during the Q3 earnings it would still be over staffed in comparison to its competition. Keep your resume up to date and apply for jobs outside.
