Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

What's your store shortage number in inventory?

How did your store do in inventory? Our store is the worst in our district. We had a 2.4 M in shortage. Just curious as to how other stores did.

We can not stop the shop lifters but we can reduce the shortage. Hire VSOs for the high theft areas: Polo, beauty, handbags, etc., Remove the back stage carts, and have fitting room attendants. EVERY STORE has reduced the number of fitting rooms. Hire a monitor to see what goes in and what goes out. Our location had a $1,000,000 shortage. VSOs and fittings room attendants cost significant less than 1,000,000 dollars. Does every high shortage store have a full AP team, including a manager? Just asking. That is where I would probably start!

I think we have some stuff to submit still which may help lower the number, but we're at like 5,6%.

You can't hide an inventory number. It is literally on the P/L statement.

they need to place more hard tags and place fewer sizes out for the major brands hard tag the suit cases so they cant be opened same with purses sport bags shoes and maybe even fewer carts on the sales floor lock up or the losses will continue to pile up when it comes to associates fear of a record will help those kids stop giving stuff out to friends and family but I believe its really important to share and build a family/team environment so really its all what you can do without having the issue of lawsuits from anybody claiming anything

Don’t worry, shortage will be blamed for the horrible 4th Q. Walmart CEO blamed theft for eating into their profits.

Yes employees are caught stealing all the time. But there isn’t a day that goes by that people do not run out the doors with arms full, bags full and suitcases full of of stolen merchandise.
Jeffrey thinks this is OK with his woke policies. We have security in our store but they are not allowed to stop shoplifters. I do not wast my time calling them anymore. I have taken senior managements lead and I just turn my head and act like it didn’t happen.
Well Jeffrey is going to have to do some smooth talking come March when fourth quarter and total 2022 results are released. He will hide the massive inventory shortage somewhere on the profit sheet. He is a pro at camouflaging the truth.

The inaction from this CEO is very telling. Lack of AP and lenient policies are not helping with theft. Somehow despite this the Board of Directors will still receive very large bonuses. Some organizations do a much better job with Security, this is blatant non caring from my vantage point

They say most of the shortage is from dishonest employees. The kids that were hired last year were giving free stuff away to their friends on the registers.

So not this year but in the past our store was at the very bottom for our region. Children’s was the WORST! They told us to picture an entire semi truck packed from front to back with children’s clothes and that’s how much got ripped off!

Lol 2.4m thats rookie numbers. My store one year lost 15m in shortage. The stores annual sales was around $140m for reference.

A group of 4 illegal aliens s tole $12,000 worth if merchandise from a store in Nassau County. Thats why stores have 2.4 in shortage. No LP in many stores so how can they be upset with stores with high numbers is ridiculous . Wake up Jeff and prevent this from bleeding us dry.

  1. 4 Mil? Wow! In the past, a number like that would have resulted in immediate termination of management. Today, probably not.
