The neighborhood store list released in Feb 2020 was only a list of stores that potentially "COULD" close. Not "WOULD" close. There was never any guarantee. It was essentially a list which stores where on probation for underperforming and would be closed if things didn't pick up at those sites. The neighborhood stores that have not been closed to this point have picked things up since the February 2020 announcement so they are essentially off probation.
There is no more neighborhood store list. Now, the only 2 ways a store gets announced to close is:
- The lease is up on the building that Macy's leases.
- Mall owners want to acquire the property that Macy's owns for future redevelopment.
