Hi,
You are most likely ok. Unless, it relates to the priority of the project that you work on. Chill dude. Cheers.

Honestly it's hard to say because I think it depends on your project

You would hope, rather not, right ?
But when it comes to 10% or hopefully only 5% layoff related headcount expenses, then compensation may come into the calculation too.
If there are enough unfortunate 1,2’s in the system, logically 4 should not be touched and allowed to work well.
Also in layoffs like Google’s entire orgs got cut, a team of 300 engineers working in Google X, since 7 years, on everyday robots got the chop. So it’s also strategic decision that if continued investment doesn’t make sense for the company anymore, then poor 4 rated employees would be impacted too. Although I would expect them to first be offered accommodation in other teams. And a 180K employee Google can’t be compared to 48K employee us. So let’s hope it’s sane decision making and one for the long term, as our specialized employees would be hard to get back. Competitive products being developed. Would say we double down and gain differentiated advantage in the downturn.
