Thread regarding Alphabet Inc. (Google) layoffs

Entitlement will not lead you to anything better

I am so turned off by the press reports of Google employees who were not layed off "demanding" things now in their emails to management - demanding to know how decisions were made, demanding to know what the consequences are for the CEO, complaining left and right, etc.

OMG. I would really wonder whether I would want to hire someone from Google. This is a business -- to those who feel they are owed something beyond a paycheck, you actually aren't. You work a week, you get a paycheck on Friday.

Google may have created the perception that there is some higher purpose, but that really is not going to hold water in this economic environment where Google is being seen for what it is, just another big company.

It’s disgusting entitlement. It’s the same entitlement blue collar workers have when they overcharge.

No free lunches/dinners, free bus ride, free laundry, free gym. Instead, use you paycheck to pay for all those things.
Google should relocate to TX otherwise it is going extinct. Woke culture in California is destroying innovation at Google.

One thing is clear once again, there is no loyalty in this game. Business models miscalculations led big tech to "correct the course". When somebody at the top says "find me xxxx million in savings" (following a consultant's recommendation), a pivot table defines your destiny. And of course, the CEO takes "full responsibility", of course!!!, who else? (id--tic line crafted by Meta and now borrowed by every one).

Loyalty? Only to you and your family. These are just avenues for you to get there.

Remember this in your next one...everybody is disposable and performance management is getting tougher.

Gotta say, interesting to see the unraveling of immature 'corporate' folks that haven't figured out that beyond the veil of the company motto, this is capitalism, at its normalcy and layoffs are par for every company - keep it moving and find another lilly pad!

Well said. Wokeism in corporations is a veil. It’s all about money, always has been, always will be.

It’s funny to see the left wing meltdowns by people who were fired. It sucks but it’s life. Take a few days and start applying for new jobs.

Twitter is hiring.
