Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

The AI revolution has skipped us

Dell needs to trim down to survive. It missed the AI revolution happening around us. Microsoft is one of several, including rival Google, betting that this generation of artificial intelligence will transform, not just productivity software but entire industries, thanks to so-called large language models, that can understand, converse with, and imitate humans in realms ranging from writing to art to computer coding. Dell is basically a peddler of commodities like desktops, laptops and servers. No hopes of any innovations to come out of Dell. The AI revolution has gone way over the heads of Dell's leadership team. This bold new world requires hyperscale cloud computing (sorry Apex, that's not you) and massive cloud based data silos. You had a good run Dell Computers, but it's time to say good night.

There are teams at Dell looking into AI, it’s just not going anywhere because they report to dinosaur management that can barely tie their own shoes much less have a strategic vision for the future

Its becoming more and more apparent that this site has gone from something useful to a site of bitter ex Dell mouth breathers who are just looking for reasons to stir s**t up.

The anononymity of this place has made it easy for stupidity and drama to flourish
