No one's job is ever guaranteed. But still, it looks like job security here will become more and more uncertain as time goes on? I would like to be wrong.

If you pay or age is high, you are targeted. Save as much as you can to isolate for turbulent times. If you cannot handle rolling lay-off, then you need to move to another company. This is the new norm. No expectations regardless of effort.
