Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

I want to be fully transparent

We are making some changes. These changes have resulted in impacts to roles. We have had to hold conversations with colleagues. We have had to make this tough move.

[How do you write hundreds of words about layoffs and not actuality say "we fired some people"? Instead we have "changes," "impacts," "conversations," and "tough move." Are we really saying that some of our colleagues were conversationed yesterday?]

Pretty sure more happening this week. Managers told not to discuss any details so the ELT can control the narrative in the all hands meetings.

perhaps closing down some executive suites in the big stadiums could save a few coins.

Also note that KR and her Change Program underling A Pearce were just promoted. Doesn’t make sense.

These email messages are so tone deaf. All of the reorganizations, layoffs, travel bans etc seem to have done nothing. Meanwhile, the ELT team jets around the world "cutting costs" and improving little.

I hate that term “transparent” . Nothing on corporate America is transparent,

Their "growth strategy" for over a decade has been selling off parts of the company and outsourcing work done by people with domain knowledge to cheap contractors.

Three emails so far and no details. What's the point of this?

There are no good ways to lay people off but you can always count on TR to do it badly.

It was cool that the profile of the email was MF for “Message From” instead of DW. More appropriate though.

Eight colleagues were "conversationed" last week. Why? Who knows? But I am guessing not a single exec will be cut by an "impact to roles".

Don’t you think they do this to keep the constant layoffs out of the news? Afraid if affecting the reputation and stock price. Thoughts?

I guess I'm just frustrated with how chickenshit TR always is with these things. I'm told this constant obfuscation around layoffs isn't normal at other companies.
