Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Next U.S. round

Now that other parts of the world are done (or at least I think they are), when will cuts continue here? I think we all know we're far from over so more layoffs are inevitable. The only question remains when can we expect them to happen? Within the next few months or in the second half of the year?

From what I know Europe still hasn’t started with layoffs. Because of labor laws and unions they’re having a much harder time. No idea if this will prolong the excruciating wait by days, weeks or months. My contract is up in the end of March as I was brought on in October of last year. After my round of hires there was one more group in my department and after that my manager told us that his new hire budget was frozen in December even though we had two openings. With teams in my department already reduced I wonder how hard we will be hit, TLs are in the dark supposedly. I’m pretty sure I’m going to be let go as my contract expires.

Not even close. Our office in Europe, no one have heard anything or much.

We had one email come true from our Europe work council explaining a bit. Alot of rules and laws, no one can just be fired on the day, prob figuring out the cheapest way possible.

TL and Managers also in the dark.

People I have spoken with are speculating this week or next we hear more, also fears they will not review contracts if they happen to be up for renew this months now.

Feeling if people did not have plans to leave the company before, they are all updating their CV now.

I was told by a reputable source today US & Canada are done. No idea if this means people who are US based but primarily work with non US teams.

No doubt more will come in a year or whenever, that is the Nielsen pattern.

how bad was Australia hit?

I think Europe and Australia layoffs are supposed to begin this week.

Any idea how many people have been laid off already and what their final goal is in terms of percentage reduction?

It's crazy to see how many experts and senior folks have been laid off.n

Layoffs are a recurrent process at Nielsen. This was side line during the COVID crisis but now we are back to normal.

I don't have any more information, but I think you're right. There will be a second round. It's just a matter of time.
