I've been applying for new jobs, to leave DELL, but it seems like it doesn't have a good rep. Lots of odd questions, or people passing over my resume.
Anyone went from Dell to FAANG?

"They ask me if I actually do any work, or if I am just handing things off constantly. There just seems to be a skepticism about the DELL work ethic or experience. "
This is absolutely a perception of Dell outside Dell.
All my interviews start it's not going to be like Dell you will have to work.
This is why I still put EMC on my CV. When I went through the loop at Amazon (offered and accepted), I had 3 people say to me they frequently saw poor candidates from Dell and they were happy I had spent the majority of my career at EMC.
Pretty harsh to be honest as there are some good people at Dell, hard to find albeit. This is in the UK as an FYI and this was for a solution architect role at AWS.
At the end of the day you are selling yourself, but yes expect a lot of scrutiny over having dell on your resume.
Recruiters aren't stupid. They understand that Dell really isn't "selling" anything. It's a commodity business. It's more like how many pancakes would you like today?
No it doesn't, that does not make any sense. You're selling you...not Dell. Get a clue.
Brand recognition is a thing, and if people have bad experiences with a product, that does impact how you get perceived as well
it's not dell, it is you. in an interview yiou are not selling dell. you are selling you. your product sucks.
I'm not sales. And it seems like there's a perception that Dell people dont work
your sales...nobody cares

not many. Few engineers maybe..
I always get questions about if I handle the full sales cycle or if I just swoop in to give a product presentation and peace out. Very annoying to have to constantly reiterate that I find and close deals 100% start-to-finish.
I have not struggled with my job searches when I’ve left Dell. Might be a pattern in your role?
