Strange rehire after layoff

Anyone noticed that some of the lickers that were laid off in one department are being re-hired by another?

Yes the pivot away from 7nm and advanced nodes has a shelf life. While perhaps a smart move in the immediate future; long term it has set up Globalfoundries into a slowing decaying life cycle. Yes there will always be customers for older technology nodes, but every year it becomes less and less at each specific node as these customers also improve their products with a “newer” older node. And eventually the transition from 14nm to 10 or 7 nm will come to these customers and application space. This may take a long time but in that time less and less business will go through Globalfoundries and our product offerings. A steady slow decline is inevitable due to the business decision to pivot. Even before the pivot Globalfoundries was marching towards its death, but the pivot sort of formalized it even that was their intention.

This is strange. I am not positive about future of GF. I talk to my colleagues in Samsung and Intel and they are aggressively pushing on technology development for tech node beyond 5 and 3 nm. Intel planning to have 5 process tech mode in 4 years! This really scares me as GF is relying on obsolete 14 nm and heavily dependent on AMD, Qualcomm, Mediatech and Marvell. Matter of time they all will shift to 7 and 5 nm.

I guess we are talking about guy who was laid off from TD and hired by AME. As expected another a-s kicker level 10.

How did any of them get laid off in the first place? And how are they getting rehired if there are no openings?

This really triggers the demise of any company when company makes decision in political links and bias. Someone laid off from one department and immediately hired in another, tells the real state of the company. No decision making criteria. A-s lickers reign. Connections are only way to grow to management ladder. Management is full of a-s holes with no competency except boot licking and a-s licking and …

Yes - and why would ever want to come back?

It’s clear more is coming in pipeline probably in spring.
